Hawks Nest hosts New Exotic Theatre

The Grey and Thespian Mardi Gras and Myall U3A request your company at the hippest new theatre in town, the Best Exotic Hawks Nest Community Hall.

Grey and Thespian? Well nobody needs reminding of those ‘silver threads among the gold’ or the bald pate, but for those of you scratching your heads about “thespian” we respectfully remind you that it refers to actors or anything related to acting or theatre.

Three films will be screened across the weekend of 8-10 April 2016.

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, set in India and starring Maggie Smith, Judy Dench and Bill Nighy will open the theatre on Friday 8 April at 6:30pm.

The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel will screen on Sunday evening with the now grey thespian, Richard Gere (remembered as the not so grey lawyer in the Oscar winning film ‘Chicago’) joining the all star cast.

These classic films can be watched again and again with each screening revealing more of their magic.

Adding to the magic, the Hawks Nest Community Hall will be transformed in true Bollywood style with lavish decorations and you are invited to dress in your best Indian attire on both nights to be part of the fun! Each feature will be accompanied by cartoons and Movietone news reels from the 60’s and 70’s.

The fun packed evenings will also indulge your taste buds with a selection of Indian and Nepalese food by local restaurant ‘Curries and More’ and ice creams and bottled water available for purchase prior to the event and at intermission.

Wine tastings by ‘Tamburlaine Organic Winery’ will also be available on Friday night.

Tickets are only $5 each and can be pre-purchased (recommended) at the Hawks Nest and Tea Gardens Pharmacies.

With Youth Week in mind, Sunday afternoon has been designed for the younger generation.

The matinee screening of ‘Paper Planes’ with Aussie Sam Worthington (Avatar) will screen at 11am.

Admission is free for kids and their accompanying adults with bookings recommended at the above Pharmacies.

Ice blocks, ice creams and bottled water will also be on sale.

A fun paper plane folding competition will follow the screening with children competing for prizes for the most inventive and furthest flying planes. Locals and visitors alike are encouraged to attend.

The Grey and Thespian Mardi Gras has plenty more for young and old.
