Tea Gardens Hawks Nest upset at proposed treated sewage spray of feild

Hawks Nest Tea Gardens residents express their outrage at the prospect of having treated sewage sprayed on Myall Oval, opposite their homes.

Although the Progress Association had written to Council and MidCoast Water expressing serious reservations about this process, the Association said, “It was disheartening to note that Council had responded with a cursory note that they were investigating different spray heads for the spraying system.”
“This approach does not address the resident’s concerns regarding the health and safety of children playing in the park, particularly when playing in the sandy soil.”
“Whilst the Association supports the principle of recycling, it is considered that the use of recycled sewage is not appropriate in an area where children regularly play.”
The Progress Association felt Council should continue with its current system of watering Myall Oval from the aquifer.
Myall Coast News contacted Great Lakes Council however no one was available for comment at that time.
