OAM recipients, Mavis & Ted Mowbray receive their medals

EARLIER this month Ted and Mavis Mowbray attended the Investiture at Government House, Sydney to receive their Order of Australia Medals for service to the communities of Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest.OAM Tea Gardens Mavis and Ted Mowbray

Accompanied by their three sons and partners, everyone enjoyed a wonderful day.

“It was an honour and a delight to be a part of their special day,” said family member, Linda Mowbray.

“I must say it was most humbling to be in a room with so many amazing people and hearing their different stories,” Linda told Myall Coast News.

Ted and Mavis were greeted with pomp and ceremony including the Australian Army Band playing on the verandah with Sydney Harbour as a back drop.

The presentation of the medals was carried out by Her Excellency Professor The Honourable Dame Marie Bashir AD CVO Governor of NSW.

Her Excellency made time to chat and thank each recipient for their contribution.

Following the Investiture, refreshments were taken and everyone had a chance to mingle in the beautiful grounds of Government House.

Afterwards, it was off to Parliament House for lunch where approximately 300 recipients, receiving awards state wide, had the opportunity to meet.

Ted and Mavis have always enjoyed being involved in community services and they are worthy of the recognition they have received.
