A man will appear in court on a number of charges after he allegedly assaulted two officers in Forster yesterday.
About 11.35am yesterday (Tuesday 27 October 2015), officers investigating an alleged domestic incident, attempted to speak to the driver of a white Holden Commodore parked on Macintosh Street.
When officers approached the vehicle the driver allegedly accelerated away from police. The vehicle was found abandoned in Royal Palm Place a short time later.
A search of the surrounding area located a man and a woman who were passengers in the vehicle. Both were arrested and taken to Forster Police Station.
Two officers located the alleged driver of the Holden running across Cocos Crescent into a reserve but he refused to stop when directed and he was tackled to the ground.
The man allegedly violently resisted arrest but was eventually placed in handcuffs by the two officers.
A search of the man allegedly located a key to a stolen vehicle and 1.14 grams of a white powder suspected of being Cocaine.
He was taken to Forster Police Station and was charged with a number of offences including; drive recklessly/furiously or speed / manner dangerous, resist officer in execution of duty, assault police, possess prohibited drug, trespass, stalk / intimidate intend physical etc harm, destroy or damage property and assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV).
He was refused bail, to appear before Forster Local Court today (Wednesday 28 October 2015).
The two police officers involved did not suffer any injuries.
The male passenger was released pending further enquiries. The female passenger, was charged with Trespass and breaching her bail conditions and will also appear at Forster Local Court today (Wednesday 28 October 2015).
Investigations continue.
