Kallie McNamara, a Hawks Nest girl, is preparing to compete at the All Star Cheer & Dance World Championships in Orlando, Florida U.S.A. in April and she couldn’t be more thrilled.
The competition will comprise of the leading All Star teams from the U.S.A., China, Germany, Mexico, the U.K. and Kallie’s team from Australia.
The competition will have in excess of 25,000 athletes who will compete for the world championship titles.
Kallie has been a member of the EOD Allstars Level 5 team in Maitland for five years now and commits to three to four training nights a week and six major competitions a year.
Kallie spoke to Myall Coast News Of The Area, “The EOD Allstars are part of the Federation of Cheerleaders and we are trained in gymnastic skills.”
“We do tumble classes, backflips and stunts and routine development and we have been travelling down to Sydney to compete against the high level teams,” she said.
There are twenty-five girls on the cheerleading team and they competed in Nationals in Melbourne in November 2015 to obtain the bid to represent Australia at the World Championships.
The World Championships will take place from 22 – 25 April 2016.
The EOD Allstars and their families are now seeking sponsorship to help with the costs of their trip to America.
The Australian Cheerleading Federation is excited about the EOD Allstars Level 5 team representing Australia on the world stage.
Kallie said, “I am so excited.”
“I have never been to America and when it comes to cheerleading, it’s where it’s at.”
“The EOD Allstars Level 5 team will be holding a fundraising event on 12 March in Thornton which will be a Band Night,” she said.
