A NUMBER of callouts to fires has prompted the early official start to the Fire Season, from 1st August.
Permits are now required to do any burns in the open.

Fines can be imposed on anyone lighting fires without a current Permit.
The Brigade has already had two callouts to illegal fires in our area.
A successful Hazard Reduction (HR) burn was done at Shearwater on Sunday 10th August.
We had a good roll-up and everyone got re-acquainted with using hydrants.
What a difference to our usual scenarios where we have to count every drop of water and work out where and when we can fill up the truck again.
The prescribed burn plan for the next stage of the HR for South Pindimar has now been approved; the Electricity people have removed trees under the power lines in the burn area and Council have removed some asbestos contamination.
Now all we have to do is wait for some good weather which doesn’t look likely this weekend.
The joint training session on Tuesday the 5th August with the local Fire and Rescue was well attended by both Brigades.
We checked the Fire Fighting system at the Boat House and then checked, tested and cleaned up the overgrown Fire Fighting manifold at Coles (BiLo).
