WEDNESDAY bowls tried out a new format on 21st January.
Play started at 9.30 am and two games of 10 ends were played without a stoppage for lunch.
Most matches were completed by 1.15 pm which allowed plenty of time for a leisurely lunch after without the hassle of going out again.
The feedback from bowlers seemed very positive.
A good field of 50 bowlers took part and the winning team, on a score of +38, was a fours combination of; Brian McPhie, Garry Wynne, John Moore and Kerry O’Brien.
Runners-up, on a score of +25, were a triples team of; Barry Drayton,
Grahame Watkins and Jeff Baker.
The same format will prevail next week with the same 9.30 start with a free lunch provided. How good is that?
The Men’s Bowling Club will be saying farewell to Mr. Nice Guy, “whispering” Bob Foster who is leaving Tea Gardens to reside in Stockton.
“Have a good one Bob” from all of us at TGBC.
Certainly going to be missed!
January 23: A good field of 24 bowlers contested the Friday Jackpot Pairs competition with the “red-hot” consortium of Barry Goode and Richard Lee running out as winners on +26. (Glad I didn’t play them.)
Runners-up were Garry Wynne and Alan Greenhalgh on +19.
The Jackpot was not won and has hit $200.00 for next week. Worth a game gentlemen?
Entries closed on Saturday 24 January for the Club Triples Championship.
A total of 14 teams have entered, (42 bowlers), with the first round commencing on Sunday 1 February.
Look for the draw this week.
Australia Day commitments by the main Club has meant that there was no Sunday Introduction to Bowls this week.
The programme will continue the following Sunday, 1 February.
