Karuah fishing table at boat ramp receive upgrade

Port Stephens Council has hooked a total of $28,000 in funding from the Department of Primary Industries to improve fishing facilities across the local government area.

Karuah will receive a handsome allocation of $16,500 of this amount.

Shelters will be installed at the fish cleaning tables at the Karuah boat ramp.

The new facilities will be built using funding from the Recreational Fishing Trusts.

Port Stephens Council’s Community and Recreation Coordinator, Brendan Callander, said the funding application and resulting projects were prompted by the community.

“The shelters are a practical addition to the fish cleaning tables, and in particular the new table and shelter will be fantastic for people using the boat ramp.”

“We envisage that when complete, these facilities will be well used by plenty of fishermen after a successful outing with the rod.”

Work is scheduled to begin by the end of the year.
