“With ICAC having announced it is deferring the final report on Operation Spicer until after a High Court challenge in the Crown Prosecutor Margaret Cunneen affair, for the good of the Government, I regretfully have to withdraw as the Liberal candidate.”
“It would be unusual for the High Court challenge to occur before the election and I do not want the Premier to be in a position where he has to leave the future of Port Stephens in limbo.”
“My decision is based on protecting the people of Port Stephens from a Labor Member which would be disastrous for our community.
“I will continue to work hard to represent the people of Port Stephens as their State Member until the election in March 2015.
“I sincerely thank the people who I have been honoured to represent in my eight years in the NSW State Parliament and seventeen years on Port Stephens Council. I thank them for their faith in me and ongoing support and hope I have made a positive difference to their lives and those of their families and friends.
“I have been privileged to serve in Government with Premiers O’Farrell and Baird and look forward a Mike Baird Liberal/National Party Coalition leading this state for many years to come.”
Thank heavens this corrupt blight on Port Stephens has been eradicated by ICAC. He knew he was next and took the easy way out…like cowards mostly do. Too scared to face further investigation into how he lined the pockets of his developer mates over all these years at the expense of the Port Stephens’ constituents.
Good riddance to corrupt LNP members.
